Ryan R. Morton

I came to Montana & Welch, LLC in 2021 after several years working for another municipal firm. My practice is largely spent counseling various local governments, including municipalities, school districts, pension boards, fire protection districts, and police and fire commissions. I advise these clients on a wide range of topics, from land use to contract formation, while also appearing in court to defend them or prosecute administrative and ordinance violations. A favorite practice area is election law, where I have represented many successful candidates at various stages of their campaigns. Whether it’s circulating petitions, objecting to or defending candidates in front of electoral boards, or assisting with campaign finance issues, I greatly enjoy working with candidates as they prepare to serve the public. I also have helped many non-governmental clients in a wide range of matters, including business formation, litigation, estate planning, personal injury defense, real estate, and employment concerns. Prior to becoming an attorney, I spent six years as a radio news director and sports broadcaster, mostly covering events and governmental meetings in Kendall, Kane, DeKalb, and LaSalle Counties.
